Domaine Lagneau, Beaujolais-Villages, 2024
Vibrant purple in the glass with classic Gamay red fruit on the nose. The palate is sappy and bright with crunchy blackberry and violet notes. Excellent concentration for a Beaujolais of this level - which all comes from the ancient (60-100 year old) vines on steep schist and granite slopes in Quincié-en-Beaujolais. This wine runs Didier's Crus very close for quality. Now-2028.

One of our long-term favourites, from 60-100 year old vines on the granitic hills just to the south of Morgon. Gérard is the father chez Lagneau. As ever - we have been shipping this ever since the 2001 vintage - this is terrific. Domaine Lagneau, Cote du Brouilly, Vieilles Vignes, 2023
The Côte de Brouilly cru is a sub-set of the larger Brouilly Cru and reserved for vineyards on the higher slopes of the volcanic Mont Brouilly. The wines tend to be more concentrated, intense and age-worthy than regular Brouilly and Didier’s 2023 is perfect example. Dark cherries and peppery spice with real vigour and vibrancy on the palate. Superb. Now-2030.

Domaine Lagneau, Morgon Vieilles Vignes, 2024
Morgon is perhaps the most highly regarded of Beaujolais’ ten Crus and home to some of its more celebrated vineyards where schist and granite dominate. This is the biggest and broadest of Didier’s Crus, but it retains a thrilling lightness and zip. The 2024 vintage has a dark, brooding nose which gives way to a palate paced with focused plum and blackberry fruit with ripe, supple tannins and a long, fresh finish. Approachable now, it has a long life ahead of it as the layers of flavours...
