A brilliant example of what is arguably the Cape’s most exciting and individual style, the oaked Chenin Blanc blend. From 60% Chenin Blanc (planted in 1962), 30% Grenache Blanc (1994) and 10% Viognier, all barrel fermented and aged in 20% new, 30% second fill and 50% third fill barrels, this may be the best sub £15 white you will drink all year.
Delectably ripe aromas of stone and tropical fruit with hints of ground almonds and baked apple cake. Richly textured, opulent even, but with a brisk backbone of acidity. Extrovert - this just builds and builds - lightly savoury, with an almost saline streak, this is comparable to a lot of much more expensive peers. Now-2025
