Jean-Luc Meyer, Pinot Blanc, Alsace, 2025

A long-term favourite at SVS - we have been shipping this organic wine from the Meyer family in Eguisheim since the 2001 vintage. It always over delivers on flavour and texture. Dry with attractive notes of red apple and pear. There is just a little weight on the palate and the finish is long and sustaining. Incredibly versatile with food and also a superb aperitif. The fascination of Alsace is the kaleidoscope of flavours - from bone dry to very sweet - delivered by unusual grape varieties planted in a very specific terroir.

The vineyards are strung in a narrow - less than 3km wide - band running for 60km. north-south along the eastern foothills of the Vosges mountains, west of the flat Rhine plain. The mountains, up to 1,000 metres in height,...

Jean-Luc Meyer, Pinot Gris, 2025

Full and ripe Alsace Pinot Gris with notes of pears and Mirabelle plums on the nose. The palate is rounded with a subtle honey and beeswax edge to dried fruit and chamomile notes. Ever-so-slightly off-dry on the finish, it is excellent with terrines, smoked meats and soft cheeses. Now-2028
Northerly Alsace appears an unlikely home for organic cultivation, but here the vineyards lie in the rain shadow of the Vosges and enjoy long dry summers. The Meyer family have cultivated vines...

Jean-Luc & Bruno Meyer, Gewurztraminer, 2024

Classic Gewurztraminer with a perfect balance between rose-petal aromatics, exotic fruit and spice. Full bodied, off-dry and flavoursome (13 grams of residual sugar), this is great with spicy food -  a fiery Thai green mango salad would be fantastic. Now-2028
We have been buying from the Meyer family in Eguisheim since their 2001 vintage. Their wines both offer authenticity and very good value in a wealthy region; and their adoption of organic viticulture does seem to have made...

Jean-Luc Meyer, Riesling Vieilles Vignes, 2025

Intense, old vine Riesling with a slightly smoky, orange blossom nose with focused lemon and lime fruit on the palate underpinned by a delicious flinty minerality. There is impressive concentration and depth too and plenty of capacity for ageing. A triumph. Now - 2032

Great choice of good-value wines in the January sales. The website is really easy to use to make up an order. Delivery, as is often the case, was within 24 hours and, as usual, was well-packed.
