Burgundy: Focus on the Côte Chalonnaise
The Côte Chalonnaise is sandwiched between the Côte de Beaune and the Mâconnais. This is rolling, gentle countryside where vines co-exist among other agricultural activities. It is bucolic, and in Domaine de L’Ecette (Rully) and Château du Bourgneuf (Mercurey), we have two producers of equal charm to the landscape. The Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs produced here are fruit forward with elegance and length. They are accessible and will delight Burgundy die hards and newcomers alike. Importantly, compared with the “grand” wines from the Côte d’Or these wines represent excellent value.
