The latest vintage of a long term value here.The Melet family has owned the Château in Fronsac for five generations. Since 2011, the consultant oenologist has been one of Bordeaux’s finest, Stéphane Derenoncourt: here the grapes are picked by hand and the wine isaged for eighteen months, two thirds in barrel. 95% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc in this vintage. Wonderful ripeness and aromatics. Fleshy blackcurrant flavours with light tannins. Excellent persistence and a pleasing plumminess rounds it out. A high quality, old-fashioned, classic claret.
