Only seven producers work in the tiny IGP of Vicomte D’Aumelas. The vineyards lie between the Herault river and the Aumelas hills just to the west of Montpellier. Here Clos de L’Amandaie have a small plot of old vine Carignan which they use to make this wine. The grapes are given a short maceration to deliver a youthful and approachable style. This is such an elegant expression of Carignan, full of crunchy red fruit with just a lick of tannin. With summer around the corner it’s an ideal wine to have stashed away. Now-2026
