Parisio, Gavi, 2025

Riper and more forward than the 2024, this is a super Gavi. Lemons and apples dominate the palate but there is a hint of more exotic fruit from the warmer summer all under-pinned by a core of stony minerality. Bone dry and very refreshing with real character. So much better than the over-cropped and rather dilute Gavi's than we see over here in the UK. A superb summer wine, this would be delicious with salads, seafoods and pasta. A simple dish of spaghetti with new season courgettes,...

Fiorano, Donna Orgilla, Offida Pecorino, 2025

One of our very best Italian whites. Dry but fruity, mineral yet expressive. It’s beloved by the critics too. The previous vintage was awarded the coveted top Tre Bicchieri rating by Italy’s most important wine guide, the Gambero Rosso and also received a glowing review on jancisrobinson.com. The 2025 is wonderful too – flashes of green in the glass with peach, pear and apricot notes. Hints of yellow flowers and Amalfi lemon too. Paola explains that Pecorino always keeps its freshness...

Fiorano

Cossignano, Le Marche, Italy

We started working with Paolo Beretta (formerly a dentist) and Paola Massi (a research pharmacologist) in 2015, with immediate success.

Their wines exemplify perfectly the virtues of small-scale - they tend just 10 hectares of vines - organic cultivation. All exhibit an entrancing purity of fruit, and all are bottled with...

Borgo Paglianetto,, Terravignata, Verdicchio di Matelica, 2025

This is the estate's 'entry level' Verdicchio di Matelica, but it punches well above its price point. It is zesty and bright, packed full of lime, lemon balm and white peach, all underpinned by Matelica's tell-tale stony minerality. An excellent all-rounder, it can be enjoyed on its own or with food; a simple pasta dish with young broad beans, herbs and sharp Pecorino Romano would be perfect. Now-2028
We first visited Borgo Paglianetto in 2022 in the search for...

Amoruccio, Grillo, Sicilia, 2025

he Rocca family are a terrific source of great value Italian wines, especially from Puglia and Sicily. Grillo thrives in the heat of the southern Mediterranean, retaining freshness and relatively low alcohol despite the abundant sunshine. This is a delicious example full of lemon and peach fruit. Michele Biancardi, Solo Fiano, IGT Puglia, 2025

Michele Biancardi organically farms 9ha of vines near Cerignola, in the north-western corner of Puglia. The focus is purely on local grapes and Fiano leads the way for whites. Cerignola is just across the Apennines from Avellino in Campania (home of the most famous Fiano vineyards). It’s an ancient grape, but fickle and low-yielding. Here it’s grown on calcareous soils and absolutely thrives.
Michele Biancardi only farms local grapes and Fiano leads the way for whites. Very...

Moletierri, Pietra dell’Orlo, Greco di Tufo, Campania, 2025

common misconception that the Tufo soils are volcanic). Still young, this is less immediately juicy and expressive than the varietal Greco above, but it is immediately apparent this offers greater depth and potential. Slightly savoury and saline, it has notes of ripe pear, honeysuckle and pomelo. It has taken on a little extra weight in the last few months and will continue to open up over the winter. 12.5%. Great choice of good-value wines in the January sales. The website is really easy to use to make up an order. Delivery, as is often the case, was within 24 hours and, as usual, was well-packed.
