The second wine of Lafaurie-Peyraguey, a Grand Cru Classe of the Sauternes with 18 hectares of vines neighbouring Yquem and the other top Chateaux. Very much based on Semillon with a little Sauvignon Blanc and a peck of Muscadelle, this is rich, joyous and life giving. We ignore sweet wine at our peril and wines like this show just how much we are missing. Barley sugar, marmalade, apricot and pineapple all dance gracefully on the palate. Wonderful weight and sweetness with fine boned acidity balancing the show. Lovely perfume on the long finish. Buy it now, before the SVS staff snap it all up! Now-2030
