Chardonnay
Chardonnay is one of the most-widely planted varieties in the world.
Arguably not the most characterful grape, hence its common ageing in oak, yet at its pinnacle in Burgundy it produces some of the greatest (and certainly most expensive) white wines in the world. “Since her arrival at Exton Park in 2011, French winemaker Corinne Seely has been a vocal advocate for the use of reserve wines – earlier this year, she’d just taken delivery of a large renovated oak cask for their storage. This wine takes the concept to a new level. RB stands for Reserve Blend – it’s made exclusively of 45 reserve wines dating back to 2015, all Chardonnay grown on Exton’s Hampshire chalk soils. The wine spent a minimum of three years on lees and has residual sugar of 9g/L.
Susie Barrie MW: Deep gold. Rich, creamy, savoury. Loads of character and acidity. Bold with fine mousse and a creamy texture. Long, memorable.
Matt Hodgson: Deep bruised apple, brazil nut, Comté and cream cheese. An invigorating spike of mid-palate acidity and an enjoyably long finish.
Dror Nativ MW: Enticing nose of toasted hazelnut and pastry, elegantly followed by green apple and citrus. Attractive, lingering finish shows class.” 95/100, Decanter, 23rd June 2026. Now-2028
