Superb value Loire white, made by the brilliant, entrepreneurial Jérémie Huchet who saw there was a gap in the market for a light wine made from blending halves of two grapes in plentiful supply in the Loire - the Melon of Muscadet and Sauvignon Blanc. Over to Michael for this one: “I cook slow roasted chicken, stuffed with lemon and garlic, smothered in butter and pimentón, on a bed of potatoes, for my family on a Sunday at least once a month and this is the wine that goes with it. Chock full of green fruit and blossom it has the character and interest to match the meal - a south-west brasserie wine with a classic brasserie dish".

Despite having its DOC since 1971, Custoza is one of the hidden gems of Italian whites. Located between Verona and Lake Garda, it has long been in the shadow of wines such as Soave and Gavi. It deserves much better recognition – especially when made this well. A blend of Garganega, Tocai, Cortese, Trebbianello, this (certified) organic white is fresh, zesty and full of citrus fruit with some mineral notes too.
