Frühroter Veltliner (also known, confusingly, as Malvasier in Austria and Germany), a cross between Roter Veltliner and Silvaner, is one of those pinky-coloured grapes (like Pinot Gris) vinified as a white wine – although here it’s given up to eight hours on the skins.
