From a small block on very flinty soils in the heart of the appellation, this is an intense and ageworthy wine. Smelling of citrus peel and hawthorn blossom, it’s intensely grapefruity. A splendidly long, steely finish, with a peppery sense of minerality, indicates its class. Now-2027
Year in, year out Francis Blanchet and his family create a wine that is so true to the appellation, and that really displays the illusive suggestion of gunflint, especially after a year or so in bottle. The estate grows 100% Sauvignon Blanc on 9.5 hectares covering Kimeridgian clays, flint and limestone.
