From parcels of old vines (70-80 years old) around the village of Mantanza de Soria this is 95% Tinta del Pais (the local Tempranillo clone) and 5% white Albillo Mayor. Grown on a mixture of clay and sand, this spends 17 months in French oak. Swirling notes of strawberry and red cherry are elevated by a floral note. Fine grained tannins. A showstopper. Now-2026
“98% Tinta del País, 2% Albillo. A ‘village wine’ from old vines in Soria, 70 to 90 years old. The most radical wine of the winery due to the elevation of the vineyards (960–1,010 m). In Soria the landscape of Ribera del Duero changes. Very red and compact clay soils reminiscent of those red earthenware cántaros (a type of jar). 17 months in barrel. Lots of ripe and sweet fruit. The barrel influence is controlled, so we have the power of Ribera but with more acidity than its classic profile. A typical Soria Ribera profile due to the freshness of the Tinto Fino. On the palate, fluid and with oak that only accompanies and does not impose itself. Substantial and very present red fruit. Overall, the personality of freshness prevails.” 17/20, Ferran Centelles, jancisrobinson.com
