Drusian, Rose Mari, Vino Spumante Rosato, Extra Dry, NV
The Drusian family's pink sparkler is not a Rosato Prosecco. Prosecco is made from the Glera grape - this is far superior, being 100% Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir). The fruit used to be sourced from the cool hills of Alto Adige but now the family have bought an estate in Belluno, in the northernmost sector of the Veneto, in the foothills of the Dolomites. Made in the same way as Prosecco (i.e. in a closed tank): a gently fizzy, very pale pink glass of red fruit - wild strawberries tinged with pear. Fine mousse. Very lightly savoury, this makes a perfect aperitif, and a bottle vanishes very quickly indeed. Now-2024
