Susanna Grassi’s Chiantis are so graceful. Her vineyards in the Lamole subzone of Greve, which is now being recognised as one of the finest terroirs in Tuscany. The vineyards are among the highest in Chianti Classico, small patches on the slopes of the prevailing forest. The higher altitude brings freshness to the grapes and lowish alcohol levels. Susanna’s wines are crafted in a traditional, low oak style with very gentle extraction, but she is also dedicated to organic cultivation, and we think that combination delivers a rare purity and elegance. These wines, in particular the Riserva, age so beautifully, taking on weight and savoury complexity; Chiantis for Burgundy lovers.
