The Boasso family - Franco and his sons Ezio and Claudio - own seven hectares of vines (and the same of hazelnuts) in the commune of Serralunga d’Alba, on the western side of the Barolo appellation. The winery itself is tiny and located on a ridge facing the village. The wines are very good examples of the traditional-style of Piedmont (as opposed to the more modern, glossier, French barrique aged styles of some producers). Aged in large old neutral oak, the Barolos are built with the structure to age very well. The star, however, might just be the Langhe Nebbiolo, an approachable ‘baby Barolo’ for the more impatient drinker.
