To state the obvious, the era of deep straw coloured, overtly oaky and often over-ripe and flabby Chardonnays from the southern hemisphere has long passed. Winemakers from Chile to Australia all know white Burgundy, admire it and aspire to emulate it, albeit with a local personality.
