Le Petit Pont Rose, IGP Pays d'Oc, 2023

We sell far more of the Petit Pont Rosé than we do of the equivalent white and red added together - that's how good this honest rosé is. From Grenache and Cinsault, in the Provençale style, pale, light and refreshing, it offers a scent of red berries and a pretty mouthful of strawberry and cranberry fruit, with a crisp finish. Nothing complicated, just a well-made, dry rosé perfect for regular consumption. Now-2025

Languedoc-Roussillon

There’s something very complete about our annual offer of wines from the Languedoc and Roussillon: with whites, rosés and reds, and wonderful fortified wines, the Vins Doux Naturels which are such a speciality of the region, there should be something for all tastes. Secondly, there are wines for every budget; at every level we believe these wines continue to offer terrific...

Grenache / Garnacha

Grenache grows well in hot, dry regions, though it can develop very high (15 degrees+) alcohol.

As such it is grown principally in Southern France and Spain (as Garnacha). It is usually blended with other varieties in the Southern Rhône and Languedoc (Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignan, Cinsaut and others).

Its flavour usually encompasses the...

Chateau La Grave, Minervois Rose, Expression, 2023

From approximate halves of Syrah and Grenache, this unfailingly delivers splendid ripeness and intensity. Pale pink. Understated, in the Provençal vein, just showing delicate fraises des bois flavours. Appealing freshness. Now-2025

Fulcrand Cabanon, Cabrieres Rose, 2023

This is named after the priest who reputedly introduced the wines of Cabrières, in particular a rosé, to the court of Louis XIV, the Sun King. A charming and elegant rosé based on 50% Cinsault, 40% Grenache and 10% Syrah. The Cinsault gives it pure and vibrant red fruit, a summer pudding of a wine, with the Syrah giving just a hint of something spicy in the background. There is also a pleasing mineral note, which elevates this wine. Now-2026

Ferry Lacombe, Mystere, Rose, IGP Mediterranee, 2022

A blend of about 50% Grenache Noir, 30% Grenache Blanc and 20% Caladoc (a cross of Grenache and Malbec created in 1958). Vibrant and moreish, lots of fruit, with notes of strawberry and flat peach. Refreshing and perfect for quaffing al fresco. Drink this year.

Chapelle du Seuil, Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence, 2022

A characteristic Provençal blend based on Grenache and Syrah with Cinsault and Rolle (Vermentino). Pale pink; perfume of stone fruit and berries; subtle red fruit with a hint of white peach; a vein of minerality. Altogether successful. Now-2024

Chateau Ferry Lacombe, Naos, Cotes de Provence Rose, 2022

Naos is a Greek temple or shrine. This is one of the Pinot family’s top cuvées, from 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah grown on argilo-calcaire soils. Pure and light pink. Lots of citrus, peach and red berry fruit. Lovely silkiness. Spendidly long finish. Sophisticated. The 2023 follows shortly. Drink this year

Great choice of good-value wines in the January sales. The website is really easy to use to make up an order. Delivery, as is often the case, was within 24 hours and, as usual, was well-packed.
