Greywacke, Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand, 2025

The creation of Kevin Judd, who was the winemaker for Cloudy Bay, and named for the high prevalence of rounded greywacke sandstones in the soils of the vineyard. Now - 2027

"Pale lemon with a greenish hue. Lime zest, grapefruit flesh and gooseberry scents, with a kick of curry-leaf reduction. The kind of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc that makes you want to cry with relief in a blind tasting exam because it’s so beautifully classic. Then, alongside the characteristic taut acidity, there’s something else: an attractive pithiness, a bit of chew, a drawn-out finish that makes it far more interesting than most Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. You could hardly ask for more from an $18 bottle of wine. Superb with lomi lomi salmon. 17/20"  Samantha Cole-Johnson, jancisrobinson.com, 3rd February 2026

Great choice of good-value wines in the January sales. The website is really easy to use to make up an order. Delivery, as is often the case, was within 24 hours and, as usual, was well-packed.
