Domaine des Garriguettes, Cotes du Rhone Rouge, Tradition, 2024
"Mid cherry red with a little bit of blue in the colour. Pure dark fruit that smells mostly of blackberry and peppery plums plus a touch of crushed stones. The Mourvèdre seems to have given a savoury note to balance Grenache’s fruit sweetness. Pure on the palate, too, with generous fruit, finely woven and smooth tannins even though it is a young wine. Just enough freshness to balance the fruit and the alcohol. Juicy yet persistent. Well structured for longer ageing but approachable...

Chateau Bellerive, Medoc, Cru Bourgeois, 2016
Full bottle 1,244 g. Silver medal from Lyon in 2018 proudly advertised on the front of the bottle. 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot – all hand-picked which is quite a thing here: Valeyrac. A cru bourgeois. "From an excellent vintage that should be nicely mature now. Firm, healthy crimson. There is real development here but it’s still vigorous and could be kept until next Christmas, too (though probably not for too many Christmases). Clean,...

Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Francis a parent of Cabernet Sauvignon.
A cross of it with Sauvignon Blanc resulted in Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Franc tends to be softer and has less tannins than Cabernet Sauvignon, although the two can be difficult to distinguish. Many of the red wines of the Loire are primarily Cabernet Franc.
