Quinta do Convento, Vinho Branco, DOP Douro, 2022
Quinta do Convento is named after the Quinta do Convento de São Pedro das Águias, a stunning deconsecrated medieval monastery in the Távora valley. The Convento wines are the estate’s flagship wines. Blended from 30% Viosinho, 25% from a field blend of mixed vines, 20% Cercial, 15% Arinto and 10% Gouveio, given 9 months aging, with 10% in second and third fill French oak barrels. A really textured white with herbs, apples and melons being the primary flavours. There is a subtle oak note in the background and a little nuttiness too. Lots of enjoyment and complexity here.
