Azienda Agricola Boasso, Dolcetto D'Alba, 2022
Dolcetto, of Piedmont origin, means "little sweet" but the grape is usually vinified dry. It can be crafted to make diverse styles, from a light, fruity wine for serving chilled to a concentrated, oaked wine for ageing. From a small plot of 35 year old vines just north-west of Serralunga this example is unoaked (all in stainless steel) but has plenty of concentration.
Not a light and delicate Dolcetto but a well-constructed wine with generous cherry and plum fruit, plus note of spice and lead pencil. Drink with pork fillet. Now-2027
