Riper and more forward than the 2024, this is a super Gavi. Lemons and apples dominate the palate but there is a hint of more exotic fruit from the warmer summer all under-pinned by a core of stony minerality. Bone dry and very refreshing with real character. So much better than the over-cropped and rather dilute Gavi's than we see over here in the UK. A superb summer wine, this would be delicious with salads, seafoods and pasta. From the best parcels of hillside vines at 300 metres grown on red soils, marls with iron and patches of marine fossils. The vines average 30 years; and the wine is given about five months of ageing on the fine lees. Both of these factors deliver considerable texture and depth to the wine, and the soils give it an incisive, mineral edge, even though the fruit is exotic - pears and stone fruit with tropical hints.
