Parisio, Gavi, 2024
Simon’s long search for a Gavi that offered both typicity and value for money in spades finally ended a couple of years ago when he found a bottle of this white in amongst a wide selection at Vinitaly. Alessandro Parisio’s is the winemaker here – a thoughtful, quietly spoken chap who farms just 4ha. of old vine Cortese. 2024 was a cool year in these parts and that’s reflected in a very classically styled Gavi: zesty citrus and grapefruit with crisp acidity and a subtle minerality....

Corte Mainente, Pigno, Soave Classico, 2023
We like retro, mildly out of fashion styles here. True Soave (as opposed to the watery stuff purveyed by supermarkets) is so good – and in David Mainenti we found a real winner from a lot of tasting at Vinitaly in Verona in 2016. His family own 12 hectares of vines, both near the town (the Cengelle vineyard) and in the Classico hillside sites such as Pigno and Tenda. His wines are winning rave reviews in Italy and here from the UK press and our customers alike. Thanks to his wish to build...

Le Lupinaie, Morellino di Scansano, 2022
It's not just English people who long to live on a farm in Tuscany - in 1991 Aldo Galimberti, tired of the city, realised the same dream, buying an old farmhouse near Montiano in the heart of the Maremma. Now his family farm 25 hectares of vines on rolling hills just inland from the Tuscan coast.
We also ship the family's delicious Ciliegiolo, but their principal wine is their Morellino (= Sangiovese) di Scansano (a town just south-east of Grosseto). Sangiovese is known...

Le Tende, Sabia, Veneto IGT Rosso, 2022
This is a new wine from this organic estate near the southeast corner of Lake Garda. 80% of Corvina, the best local grape, is blended with 20% Merlot – the addition of the latter interloper makes it an IGT Rosso rather than a Bardolino. The Merlot gives it the lightest herbaceous accent on the floral nose, and also some pleasing flesh, but it’s otherwise lively in the mouth, silky, perfumed and graceful with a splendidly long finish. Perfect for a lighter veal dish.Now-2027

Italian Quartetto Dozen
We might not all have a view of the rolling foothills of the Apennines right now, but we can recreate the best of an Italian summer at home with some judicious shopping at the local deli and a few bottles of something effortlessly drinkable from one of our smaller, independent growers.
This mixed case has wines from Piedmont, Veneto and Tuscany - two whites and two reds, all perfect for this time of year. The whites are fresh and unoaked with citrus and stone fruit character. The reds are on the lighter side with bright cherry fruit and moreish tannins. All four are classic SVS wines - textbook examples of their style but also a very significant cut above the norm.
The case features 3 bottles of each of the 4 wines and saves over £27 (14%) on normal pricing.
