Domaine Vendome, Viognier, Le Puits des Mejeans, IGP Collines Rhodaniennes, 2024
From the slopes above Larnage and named after a well. All goes into stainless steel tank and the malolactic is blocked to preserve freshness. Bright peach and nectarine fruit. The stone fruit notes sustain for a long time on the palate with just a note of blossom to round them out. An altogether refreshing and elegant expression of Viognier – it seems churlish to call this poor man’s Condrieu, but that’s accurate. Beautifully made. Excellent as an aperitif or with crab and prawns....

Domaine Vendome, Crozes-Hermitage Blanc, Les Bruclas, 2023
We have just shipped more of this terrific white Crozes, a blend of 70% Marsanne and 30% Roussanne with about a third of the Marsanne aged in 500 litre oak demi-muids, the rest in stainless steel. Deliciously aromatic. Lightly herbal with notes of acacia and orange blossom threaded through it. The palate has some weight to it but is fresh and vibrant. Flat peach, custard apple, with some mirabelle plum all mingle together with great effect. Drink with creamy chicken and veal dishes....

From young vines on the estate, vinified and aged exclusively in stainless steel to give a fresh and elegant style of Syrah. Vibrant blueberry and raspberry fruit dominate this wine. There is something slightly savoury here too which balances the wine. Incredibly juicy and fruity, almost but not quite "glou glou". So much fun and enjoyment here. Les Coulaires is sourced from two clay-limestone hillside parcels: Les Coulaires and Les Châssis Est. Aged in concrete only to give a fresh and elegant style of Syrah, it has sappy, ripe red berry fruit that has a couple of twists of black pepper. Lots of energy and drive, and very long on the finish. Just superb in this warm vintage. Now-2030

The Roudier family at Vendôme now farm just under a hectare of Cornas, passed on to them by the retiring Jean-Marie Teysseire. The Syrah vines are approximately 80 years old in the high Chaban sector, on granitic soils marked by baryte, quartz-like inclusions, hence the name.
