100% old vine Sangiovese Grosso: a selection from the first-picked grapes given a year in 500l. barrels.
Pale tone. Initial impression is of ripe cherries – and then the aromatics kick in and this flowers in the mouth. So much volume. Can be enjoyed now but will benefit from keeping. A treat. Now-2029
Susanna Grassi continues to produce exemplary high-altitude Chianti Classico at I Fabbri, which has been in her family for 11 generations. In the Lamole subzone of Greve, it’s one of the highest in Chianti Classico: here about 450-680m. of altitude brings genuine freshness to the wines. These wines are crafted in a traditional style - and as such they age gracefully - but Susanna is also dedicated to organic cultivation, and we think that brings an unusual purity and transparency to the fruit.
