Best Champagne for 2022
26th October 2022
It's the drink for toasts, special occasions and celebrations. A touch of luxury that should always be available on standby.
In the UK we love champagne and drink 22 million litres of it every year - the biggest consumers outside of France. And whilst prosecco and other sparkling wines are incredibly popular with many delicious options, champagne is that special drink for life's key moments.
With the winter months approaching, parties and celebrations are on their way, and we've selected our top champagnes with new discoveries starting at £27.95 a bottle. You can even take advantage of 10% off our cases. But be quick, the champagnes we've selected as our best for 2022 are very popular and some have limited stock already.
Our selection is in price order, starting with champagnes with very good to extraordinary value, and finishing with our highest price choice which is only available in limited numbers. We even have a bottle that incredible wine writer, Jancis Robinson declared, "demands attention".

Thomas-Hatte, Champagne, Tradition, Brut, NV
Our “house” Champagne, crafted by fifth-generation champagne grower Franck Thomas from 70% Pinot Meunier, 20% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir, wins many friends. Splendidly rounded, creamy and mature. Now-2024
Also available as a half bottle or magnum.
Thomas-Hatte, Champagne Rosé, Brut, NV
Based on Pinot Meunier. Pale pink. Red fruit and creamy nougat notes. Gentle and elegant: very good value indeed. Now-2023
Thomas-Hatte, Champagne, Brut, Millésime 2015
We all love Franck Thomas's vintage Champagne and feel we don't feature it enough as we sell so much of his standard cuvée, our house Champagne. This is from a very different blend of 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier; and now attractively mature.
Open, full-flavoured and rich; and attractively bready. Extraordinary value. Now-2023
Pol Roger, Champagne Réserve, Brut, NV
The classic, white foil cuvée, a blend of roughly equal thirds of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, given about four years ageing before release. Biscuity, generous fruit, dry, yet plenty of weight and a nutty finish. Now-2024
Louis Roederer, Collection 242, Champagne Brut, NV
A recent creation from this great house, replacing the Brut Premier: based on 56% from the 2017 vintage with 34% from a solera-like “Perpetual Reserve” and 10% 2009-16 reserve wines aged in oak; 42% Chardonnay, 36% Pinot Noir and 22% Pinot Meunier. Now-2025
"A completely new approach to NV Champagne. The blend is dominated by wine from the most recent vintage, supplemented with Roederer's 'réserve perpetuelle', a blend of older harvests topped up each year.
"Serious winey wine that is deep-flavoured, dry and has real personality. A beginning, middle and end. A wine that demands attention. Quite persistent. QGV. 17/20",
Jancis Robinson, November 2021
Also available as a magnum.
Billecart-Salmon, Champagne, Rose, NV
40% Chardonnay sourced from the best Crus in the Champagne region, 30% Pinot Meunier from the Vallée de la Marne and the southern slopes of Epernay; and 30 % Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims and the Grande Vallée de la Marne, vinified as a red wine. All in stainless steel and given 36 months on the lees. Crisp strawberries and cream, subtle and elegant. Now-2025
Pol Roger, Champagne Vintage Brut, 2013
The blend for this famously long-lived vintage wine with its retro black and gold label is traditionally 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from Grand and Premier Cru vineyards. Classic brioche aromas, fine mousse lead to a richly textured palate. Now-2027
Exclusive to Stone, Vine & Sun
We source our amazing Champagne from small independent winemakers and as such you’re less likely to find them anywhere else in the UK.
Due to their exclusivity, these beautiful Champagnes may sell out. If any of our top selection of Best Champagne for 2022 is out of stock, you can view our range of Champagne on the website or you can get in touch with us & we’d be delighted to suggest some incredible alternatives.
We also hold small quantities of top Champagnes such as Laurent-Perrier Rosé, Pol Roger Winston Churchill and Roederer Cristal – so please do ask.
