Grower Spotlight: Domaine Lagneau (Beaujolais)
“Old World, Old Vines, Old Oak” is a pretty good description of what we look for in an SVS wine – and Didier Lagneau’s wines tick all three boxes. Didier’s ancestors have made wine here for over 200 years and the approach to winemaking won’t have changed much in that time: there are no concrete eggs or clay amphorae here, just large old wooden vats which subtly soften and round the wines.
The secret, however, lies in the vineyards with the old vines – many more than 70 years of age. Didier farms them sensitively with the respect that comes from an expectation that his own grandchildren will follow in his footsteps in years to come. The results are wines that are unmistakably Beaujolais but that have a depth and concentration rarely seen in the region.
All the wines in this section are offered at 6% off unmixed sizes and 12% off unmixed dozens. Or check out the Lagneau mixed case to try the range.
