Grower Spotlight: Domaine des Forges (Loire)
Founded in 1890 by a local cloth merchant Pierre Robineau, who bought 2ha. of vines, including a parcel known locally as ‘Clos des Forges’, this domaine has an enviable reputation in the Loire for the breadth and quality of its wines. Pierre’s great-great-grandson Stéphane Branchereau is the current custodian, along with his wife Séverine. The dry wines are always terrific value for money and archetypes for their appellations, while the sweet wines are nothing less than astonishing. New for this year is a 10% abv demi-sec Chenin Blanc called Tendresse – it is light, gently off-dry, fruity and incredibly easy to drink.
All the wines in this section are offered at 6% off unmixed sizes and 12% off unmixed dozens.
