There’s usually only around 500 dozen released of David Nieuwoudt’s top red, based on a selection of the best barrels from one parcel of vines producing small berries. The grapes are given lots of extraction – punch downs and pump overs and 18 days of skin contact – but it’s never just a blockbuster.
