Mas des Brousses, Chasseur des Brousses, IGP Saint-Guilhem-Le-Desert, 2019

12th February 2022

“I am extremely impressed by this velvety red…..there is a wonderful whoosh of old-vine Merlot here which brings a luxurious core to this wine, tempering the wilder notes and engendering an air of distinction!”

Named after the bee-eater which hunts over the brush (the brousses) in summer, Chasseur is from organically farmed (and certified) vines up in the wild hills at Puéchabon, north-west of Montpellier. Based on young vine Mourvèdre with old vine Merlot, it shows lovely red cherry, strawberry and blackcurrant flavours – spiced by a little of Mourvèdre’s savouriness. With fine aromatics on the finish – and plenty of stuffing to accompany hearty dishes, it’s perfect for drinking now.
