The 1er Pinot Noir is included in Langton’s Classification of Australian Fine Wine. From 28 rows in the Top Paddock Vineyard, west facing and sloping to the South – tending to be cooler and longer-ripening. About 25% whole clusters added to the fermentation: Franco feels this makes the tannins a little finer and gives structure to the wine for ageing. Not filtered, fined, or stabilized before bottling. 2022 was a cool year. Intense and dark. Black plum nose. Subtle tannins, bold black cherry fruit, persistent on the palate.
