Wickhams Road, Pinot Noir, Gippsland, 2020
Gippsland is an up-and-coming coastal region east and south of Melbourne. Untasted as yet, but we anticipate this will have the same approachable Pinot character as its predecessors: bright red fruit, strawberry and cherry; supple and friendly. Now-2023
"Full screwcapped bottle 1,301 g. Franco d'Anna of Yarra's other label. Very pale ruby indeed. Perhaps that's the current Australian fashion. The wine has developed a certain earthiness on the nose since I last...

Hoddles Creek, Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley, 2020
Given 4-5 days cold soak, aged in thirds of new, first fill and older barrels. Soft tone. Very forward (in Burgundian terms, early maturing), with some of those undergrowth hints under the red cherry and heated red berry flavours. Opens out beautifully on the palate in a classic Pinot manner. Fine aromatics and splendid length. Now-2026
"Don’t be alarmed by the pale ruby colour – this is not at all wimpy. Instead, it’s a refined and lighter-framed rendition with layers of...

Hoddles Creek, 1er Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley, 2019
With a mad pastiche of an old-fashioned, Burgundian label, this is a splendid and complex PN, using about 20% whole bunch fermentation. Such a pretty scent: red berries tinged with coffee and herbs. Smooth, velvety even, and then just flowers on the palate, with strawberry and red cherry flavours. Subtle and classy – would impress Francophiles. Now-2027
“A wine of remarkable value and world class quality – if you’re a lover of Pinot Noir then this is a must buy. This is...
