Stonedance, Hutton Red, Swartland, 2019

A pleasing blend of Shiraz and Grenache. The nose has a pretty, cherry quality. On the palate, fresh red and dark fruit flavours combine nicely. This is rounded, soft and eminently drinkable on it's own. Alternatively it would be a delight... Read More

Piekenierskloof

Piekenierskloof South Africa For years I had been hearing about Piekenierskloof – not as a wine producer but as a source of grapes for numerous other winemakers, youngand old. I didn’t realise that Piekenierskloof wasn’t just a ward (the smallest geographical unit in the South African regional classification) but one large estate, formerly a co-operative but now...

Grenache / Garnacha

Grenache / Garnacha  Grenache grows well in hot, dry regions, though it can develop very high (15 degrees+) alcohol. As such it is grown principally in Southern France and Spain (as Garnacha). It is usually blended with other varieties in the Southern Rhône and Languedoc (Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignan, Cinsaut and others). Its flavour usually encompasses the spectrum between raspberry...

Alternatively it would be a delight with homemade burgers (beef, venison or vegetarian!) Now-2023

Hutton is a type of soil in the Cape; usually to be found on the lower slopes and plains. Derived from granite, it's yellowish or rust-coloured, mildly acidic, but has decent structure and water-retaining qualities.

Stonedance is the second label of the Piekenierskloof estate, a former co-operative which is enjoying a revival under private ownership and the impressive leadership  of Cerina van Niekerk.

Just wanted to say thank you so much for sending my order of 2 x Domaine Begude Rosé to my son and daughter-in-law - I couldn't believe that they received it within a day of my placing the order with you. That is IMPRESSIVE, especially given the current trying times.
