Piekenierskloof, Stonedance, Hutton Red, Swartland, 2019

A pleasing blend of Shiraz and Grenache. The nose has a pretty, cherry quality. On the palate, fresh red and dark fruit flavours combine nicely. This is rounded, soft and eminently drinkable on it's own. Alternatively it would be a delight... Read More

Piekenierskloof

South Africa

For years I had been hearing about Piekenierskloof – not as a wine producer but as a source of grapes for numerous other winemakers, young and old.

I didn’t realise that Piekenierskloof wasn’t just a ward (the smallest geographical unit in the South African regional classification) but one large estate, formerly a...

Alternatively it would be a delight with homemade burgers (beef, venison or vegetarian!) Now-2023

Hutton is a type of soil in the Cape; usually to be found on the lower slopes and plains. Derived from granite, it's yellowish or rust-coloured, mildly acidic, but has decent structure and water-retaining qualities.

Stonedance is the second label of the Piekenierskloof estate, a former co-operative which is enjoying a revival under private ownership and the impressive leadership  of Cerina van Niekerk.

Excellent wines sourced and chosen by the founder/wine expert, Simon Taylor. We were one of Stone Vine & Sun's very first clients and always buy from them. First-class knowledge and service.
