Languedoc-Roussillon

There’s something very complete about our annual offer of wines from the Languedoc and Roussillon: with whites, rosés and reds, and wonderful fortified wines, the Vins Doux Naturels which are such a speciality of the region, there should be something for all tastes. Mas d'Agamas

Mas d'Agamas Young Vincent Visseq studied winemaking in Montpellier and went on to work at Chateau Capion, a grand estate near Mas du Daumas Gassac. Mas d'Agamas, Carignan Bleu, IGP Saint-Guilhem-le-Desert, 2019

Carignan Bleu - a variant of Carignan - is named because of the bluish tint the grapes take on when fully ripe. Vincent's grandfather made a massal selection (i.e. taking cuttings) of their vines to replant to keep this clone alive in their vineyards. It makes for a gorgeous purple colour; a bright scent of berries and plums spiked with vanilla; and a surprisingly (for this occasionally rustic grape) lush, well-textured, fleshy mouthful of black plums and spice. Just wanted to say thank you so much for sending my order of 2 x Domaine Begude Rosé to my son and daughter-in-law - I couldn't believe that they received it within a day of my placing the order with you. That is IMPRESSIVE, especially given the current trying times.
