Boasso, Barolo Gabutti, 2015

 From the Gabutti vineyard below the cellar, a one hectare, south-east facing site on calcareous marl at about 330m of altitude. From 100% Nebbiolo, this is part aged in traditional large Slavonian oak vats, with a proportion in smaller French oak barrels. Very open, with that distinctive Nebbiolo perfume of cooked strawberries, cough medicine and tar. Very concentrated and fat, unfolding a compôte of autumnal red and black fruit spiked with cinnamon and that tarry hint again. Silky tannins give correct underlying structure. Exotic.Best 2021-2030
