Dirk Niepoort still makes his Late Bottled Vintage from the fruit of low-yielding, ancient vines, bottled without filtration. Needless to say, the deeply coloured and densely flavoured (black cherries, figs, chocolate, rich fruit cake) result is so far removed from more commercial examples that many commentators prefer to draw comparisons to fully declared vintage ports.
