From 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, and a selection of older vines on prime gravel and clay soils, this has spent 12 months in oak barrels. It’s already won a Gold medal in the major Paris Concours last year, and been named one of the five best Bordeaux Supérieurs of the vintage. Very ripe black fruit, with nutmeg on the nose. Overall impression is of a powerful but silky and aromatic wine, with menthol and spice notes around the core of black fruit. Solid, ripe tannins, promising keeping potential. Very good now, but perhaps even better 2013-2018.
